The Broken Sigil and the Voice in the Mine

What happened

The party continues through the hidden crystal facility and learns that Sylvara's dark-red dome absorbs chaos to keep the nation orderly. The red crystals powering that protection can also create portals when their energy becomes concentrated or unstable.

In the mine wing, a broken yellow sigil has allowed a hand to begin pushing through reality. A voice tempts Grenak with stronger demons and offers Roland answers. Then a red portal opens, and the final played session ends before the party chooses what to do.

The dome explained

The party begins near the deep shaft, still investigating the facility and the disappearance connected to Shalendra Mossveil. The records clarify that the energy dome covers Sylvara and is powered by the refined red-crystal network.

The dome absorbs chaos energy and helps explain the unnatural calm and order of the elven nation. Its protection weakens with distance, and the energy it collects does not become harmless simply because someone labeled the process purification.

Opening the green door

Grenak places the recovered green crystal into the matching door and passes through. Others follow before the system fully stabilizes and are struck by lightning from the active threshold.

Beyond it lies an Arcane Theory Wing filled with books, records, magical containers, and instruments used to study the dome and the crystal network.

The Arcane Theory records

Roland studies the books and adds another volume to his rapidly expanding unauthorized library. A red-crystal map shows the dome enclosing Sylvara, while the records explain that larger concentrations of energy can create larger crossings.

The ordinary crystals encountered elsewhere can admit lesser demons. If enough energy gathers in one place—or if the system fails—something far stronger may be able to enter.

Into the mine wing

The party returns through the Hub and enters the Extraction Wing. Red crystals pulse through the darkness while overturned mine carts and abandoned equipment show that the work here ended badly.

The air itself feels thick with chaos. Whatever safety the other rooms once promised has broken down at the source.

The broken yellow sigil

The group discovers a yellow protective sigil shattered in several places. Mruno helps identify it as a safety ward meant to repel demons or protect the facility.

Near the damaged symbol, a hand is forcing its way through reality. It is only partly materialized: weapons meet some resistance but pass through before they can strike a fully physical creature. The party realizes that something on the other side is still arriving.

The voice in the mine

A voice addresses Grenak and mocks the weak demons the party has fought. It promises creatures strong enough to be worthy of Bertha. Grenak rejects the offer on principle: a real demon would stop negotiating and fight.

The voice then turns to Roland. It offers the answers he has been hunting, but only if he is willing to take steps he has refused before. The party cannot identify who is speaking or whether the voice belongs to the hand, the facility, or something beyond it.

The red portal

A red crystal activates and tears open a portal. Beyond it may be the answers being offered—or merely the next thing attempting to use the crystal network as a doorway.

The final played session ends before anyone enters. The party has not decided whether to cross the portal, repair the yellow sigil, continue searching the facility, or withdraw. That unresolved choice is where the present-day campaign officially stands.
