What happened
The damaged Stormwraith reaches Vaelthalas, the elven capital built around Whisperroot Sanctuary. The party learns that the red crystals are not merely an arcane problem in Sylvara; discussing their corruption openly is politically dangerous.
A night of golden mead, strategic flirting, and unusually productive tavern gossip gives the group a written referral to Elyndor Faelithil—the champion most likely to understand what is happening.
Arrival in Vaelthalas
After surviving the Golden Minotaur attack, the party brings the damaged Stormwraith into Sylvara. Vaelthalas is orderly, beautiful, and far less welcoming to blunt questions than the settlements they recently fled.
Whisperroot Sanctuary dominates the capital: an immense living structure serving as spiritual center, seat of influence, and public gateway to the people who might know what the crystals are doing.
The Gilded Pot
The party settles at the Gilded Pot and meets proprietor Velsar Thornweave along with Saelva and Tessa. Sylvaran golden mead becomes both refreshment and investigative method.
Tessa explains that direct access to Whisperroot's inner circles can take days. She also points the group toward Shalendra Mossveil, whose missing husband may connect to a hidden organization in the city.
Red crystals and careful answers
Questions about corrupted red crystals produce caution instead of useful answers. The subject is politically sensitive, and people in Vaelthalas have learned not to discuss it openly.
The party realizes that getting information will require either official access or the kind of social maneuvering they usually replace with property damage.
Raelynn Mossveil
At Whisperroot's public reception area, the party meets Raelynn Mossveil. Her immediate interest in Valen turns a bureaucratic conversation into an invitation back to the tavern.
Valen cannot become intoxicated, which only makes the party more committed to testing the limits of Sylvaran mead and his patience.
“Valen’s doing the walk of shame. He wasn’t even drunk.”
— The party
Sareth's referral
Sareth Vosser recognizes that the group's questions matter. He confirms that Elyndor is the person they need and provides a written referral that can move them through Whisperroot's outer bureaucracy.
The session ends with a clear next step: return to Whisperroot, present the referral, and ask a legendary champion why Sylvara is so afraid of its own crystals.
The shit worth remembering
Funny even without the quote
- The party treats golden mead as a legitimate research instrument.
- Grenak attempts to understand an orderly elven capital by locating something worth fighting.
- Raelynn's interest in Valen becomes the night's dominant scandal before the investigation can regain control.
